Fremont Elementary held a “Dodge Ball with the Principal” event to reward students with Perfect Attendance for the 2nd trimester. Over a hundred students qualified to participate in the event in which they had the opportunity to play Dodge ball with the Principal during their recess time in an effort to “dodge truancy.”
Students were thrilled to see Dr. Ignacio Muñiz, Principal, and Mr. Gary Ho, Instructional Specialist, come out to the playground, where they picked teams and took part in a series of intensely competitive games. Students took full advantage of their opportunity to take a few shots at their Principal, but luckily, both Mr. Muniz and Mr. Ho managed to make it through the day without suffering any injuries. Mr. Alex Galvan, Intervention Advisor, led this initiative by announcing the class attendance on a weekly basis, encouraging students to come to school everyday and decrease truancy at Fremont Elementary School. This is part of a district-wide effort to emphasize the importance of having excellent attendance and how it directly affects academic success. Over a hundred students qualified for the dodge ball event, and the school hopes that because the event was so popular with students, there will be significantly more students who qualify for the 3rd trimester “Dodge Ball with the Principal” event.
