Mark Keppel High School presents Peter Pan, hosts Red Carpet event fundraiser on Feb. 25

Mark Keppel High School’s much awaited spring musical will be the Broadway classic Peter Pan. Ever since Peter Pan flew in through Wendy Darling’s nursery window and took her off to Neverland, J. M. Barrie’s classic adventure story has thrilled and delighted generations of theatre-goers. Barrie wrote Peter Pan first as a work of prose and then adapted it for the stage. This classic tells the story of Peter Pan, a mischievous flying boy who won’t grow up, and the Darling children who long for adventure until they realize “there’s no place like home.” Join Peter Pan on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers; the fairy, Tinker Bell; the Lost Boys; the Indian Princess, Tiger Lily; and the pirates led by the evil Captain Hook in this musical theatre adventure.

Before the play premieres, Mark Keppel will host a special Red Carpet event on Wed., Feb. 25, from 7-9 p.m. in the auditorium. The event will include a silent auction and a live auction--in which the items are flights with the cast of Peter Pan, performance of select scenes by the cast and orchestra of Peter Pan, and appetizers from local restaurants. Tickets are $75 for the Red Carpet event; all proceeds will go to benefit the production of Peter Pan.

The play’s show dates are February 27-28, March 1, and March 6-8. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $10 for students with ASB cards, children 5-10 years, and seniors 62 and over; $12 for all others. Special reserved seats are $20. Kids four and under are free. Tickets for the play and Red Carpet event can be purchased on Keppel’s webstore at mkhs.myschoolcentral.com. For more information call 626-943-6781.
