Mrs. Joanne Russell-Chavez, Clerk
Joanne Russell-Chavez is a lifelong resident of Rosemead and is a very proud product of Alhambra Unified School District. Joanne was born in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in the same Rosemead neighborhood where she and her husband Randy live today and own two businesses together. Collectively they have 7 boys and 2 grandsons. She attended and graduated from Rice Elementary and Fern Jr. High (Now Temple Jr. High) of the Garvey School District and is a graduate from San Gabriel High School.
Joanne has spent the last 27 years working in the Logistics and Transportation Industry and recently decided to forge ahead and start her own Marketing Group designed to help increase revenue and sales productivity. Within the last 10 years, she has dedicated herself to community engagement and civic pride. She presently Chairs the Traffic Commission for the City of Rosemead and has been seated on the commission for 6 years as well as serves as member for the Garvey Avenue Urban Planning Ad Hoc Committee. Joanne currently sits as the President and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Savannah Memorial Cemetery, a California Historical Landmark in the City of Rosemead where she is currently working with our local schools to get children involved with the historical, cultural and conservation preservation of the cemetery and an understanding of community life.
Joanne’s leadership style is to be a transparent consensus team builder and bring new ideas and concepts to the Alhambra School Board. With her residing in the 5th District, Joanne plans on being a valuable conduit between the Garvey School District and the children that will be attending San Gabriel High School while fostering communications between the parents and children who live in Rosemead and the Alhambra School District.
Joanne cares and is concerned about Education and the Common Core skills ensuring that every student is college and career ready. Her passion for family, church and civic pride personifies who she is on every level of life.
