On Feb 21, the Rotary Club of Alhambra presented their 26th annual mini grants to various teachers of AUSD. This year, there were 64 applicants from AUSD and 51 of them received grants up to $200.
The Teacher Mini Grant program started in 1991 and was created to supply teachers with money to implement a classroom project that is not paid for by the district and would otherwise not be possible. These minigrants are aimed at benefiting teachers of all grades and programs, including Special Ed, music programs and Academic Decathlon. The funds for these grants are generally raised through member and business donations and are then distributed among the applicants in committee meetings.
At the BOE Meeting, Committee Chairman David Snyder presented each recipient with their minigrant and were thanked for their hard work and dedication to the students and community. To date, the rotary Club of Alhambra has donated over $206,000 to this service project and look forward to continuing this tradition in order to benefit students and teachers across AUSD.
