Monterey Highlands Students Victorious Future Business Leaders of America Competition

In competition with over 750 students representing over 25 high schools and middle schools, Monterey Highlands Elementary School earned a number of awards at the 2017 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Gold Coast Section Conference held at Westlake High School.

Eleven Monterey Highlands students won individual awards: Athene Yu won first place in Accounting I and Accounting II, Kathryn Phan won first place in Job Interview, Dominique Ruedaflores won first place in Public Speaking I, Soraya Shafer won second place in Sales, Jay Wang won third place in Public Speaking II, Audrey Jung, Aidan Trinh, and Keilani Lim won fifth place in Business Law, Creed, and Future Business Leader of America, respectively, Briana Lucero won seventh place in FBLA Principle and Procedures and Claire Phan won eighth place in Introduction to IT.

Based on Monterey Highlands’ strong showing in the Gold Coast Section, thirteen Highlands’ students will be competing in the FBLA’s state conference scheduled for April 6-9, 2017 in Sacramento. Monterey Highlands will also be recognized at the April state conference for completing the FBLA’s Government Awareness and Go Green Projects.
