2016 MKHS Teocalli Yearbook Takes 1st place at LA County Fair

Teocalli Yearbook staff is proud to announce that they are the recipients of a first place ribbon from the LA County Fair “America’s Kids” Yearbook Competition. The 76th edition of Teocalli celebrates student accomplishments and highlights significant events at Mark Keppel High School in the 2015-2016 school year through the lens of “spear it,” a creative play on the word spirit, which MKHS students have an abundance of for their school. Spear it also happens to be a reference to the school mascot, the Aztec, who is often depicted with a spear.

The 2016 yearbook is the first that Mark Keppel HS has entered into competition. The award-winning book contains 300 pages, the longest in school history, and features 27 Aurasma videos or Keppel students and events. The product contains achievements in photography, design, and copywriting, which have been recognized previously in the camp curriculum for Yearbooks@thebeach a weeklong yearbook camp put on by Herff Jones Publishers at Cal State Long Beach.

Key contributors to the 2016 yearbook include Mia Ching and Cathleen Kwok (Editors-In-Chief), Sally Duong and Eunice Im (Junior Editors-In-Chief), Hailey Liu and Andy Yam (Photography Editors), Stephanie Yin, Arodi Garcia, and Katie Yee (Layout Editors), Jason Jong and Angie Chen (Copy Editors), Daphne Luong and Ashley Navarrette (Coverage Editors), and Marina Alburger (Adviser).
