ABC 7’s Rob Hayes shows how the AUSD Gateway to Success Parent Project is a lifeline program to help families transform mental health challenges early in order to not only keep students and schools safe, but able to flourish.

it's a big concern for parents and students will a classmate act out a program developed at a local high school is designed to deal with mental health problems before Hayes looks at what makes this program work Parkland Florida the death of chaos at the hands of a disturbed former student the nation in Sparta growing National debate about whether or not to further ownership but they also brought to the foreground Eden school districts for better student mental health programs in mental health reduces the risk of critical incidents as for the past 12 years the Gateway program has been zero and students with Behavioral or emotional issues Laemmle Theater suicide rates second leading cause of death for our young people and when we see kids coming when out of every five kids come to school with a mental health conditions its significance of my grades were more than us might as well call them these Crystal taking the parental rights depression just never happy slept all day long with this we learned that you know mental illness comes first group classes in the first couple of sessions you get to understand that although it's mandatory your painting tools and we need to get these tools in your hands because we're working with your kids from preschool through High School the program even helps transitional students his oldest one it's roughly two thousand students each year with 120 clinical interns sit down with them and listen to their problems if you don't ask her how we're going to reach out if we're going to give you the help and that's what I needed was someone to reach out someone to believe in me when I come and get you myself. You're talking to my mother everything went better I've had so much positivity and like it's been helping me so much that to the point where every day I smile more until my cheeks hurt it's too often in schools across the country in Alhambra Rob Hayes ABC 7 Eyewitness News
