Superintendent's Bio
Dr. Denise R. Jaramillo has proudly served as Superintendent for the Alhambra Unified School District since July 2017. She has a long professional history with the District having worked in various administrative and instructional positions throughout her tenure. Her career with AUSD began in 1987 when she was hired as a classroom teacher and soon after a teacher for the Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE). In 1994 she accepted her first administrative assignment with AUSD and since that time has served as an Elementary Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, Coordinator of Special Projects, Director of K-12 Curriculum & Instruction, and Director of Fiscal Services. Just prior to assuming the position of Superintendent, she served nine years as the Assistant Superintendent of Financial Services. Having both an instructional and business background in education has provided her with a unique perspective into public education.
A native of the San Gabriel Valley, Denise was raised in Monterey Park, California; attending elementary and middle school within the Garvey School District. She is a very proud graduate of Mark Keppel High School and recognizes the special honor she has had throughout her career to continue being part of its legacy.
In addition to holding both teaching and administrative services credentials, Denise holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from the Graduate School of Education & Psychology (GSEP) at Pepperdine University, a Chief Business Official Certificate from the University of Southern California, and a Doctorate in Education - Organizational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts.
She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Alhambra, and was honored as the Alhambra Education Foundation’s Educator of the Year in 2016.
